Chufa Oil Tumeric

Turmeric with Chufa oil has anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, antiseptic, and antioxidant properties. It can be utilized as a painkiller and disinfectant, and it can also be used to boost the immune system and maintain healthy skin and hair.

Specifically, it is often used to treat skin inflammation caused by radiation. It has also been used to treat various stomach problems, including diarrhea, bloating, stomach ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, and loss of appetite. It has been used to treat cold symptoms, menstrual problems, anterior uveitis, intestinal gas, urinary bladder inflammation, and kidney problems as well.

Tumeric oil is extracted from the rhizome by steam distillation. It has a gingery yet citrusy fragrance, and it is greenish yellow. This oil is used in aromatherapy for balance, stimulation, and relaxation.

Turmeric oil contains many different healthy active ingredients, such as curcumin and aromatic turmerone, which are highly concentrated and easily assimilated. It can be diffused by steam or heat, ingested, or used topically. However, if it is directly applied to the skin, it should be combined with a carrier oil (such as coconut or sweet almond).

History

Turmeric is a tall perennial herb of the ginger family. It has large leaves that are often over a meter in length, spiky clumps of pale-yellow flowers, and roots that are a vivid orange color on the inside. It is native to south and southeast Asia, but it is grown all over the world. However, to thrive, it requires rich, loamy soil; abundant water; and a fairly specific range of temperatures. Its scientific name is curcuma longa, and it is also often referred to as Indian saffron.

Turmeric is one of the oldest of all medicinal herbs. As Sumerian tablets, its use is recorded as early as 2500 BC, and its name is of Sumerian origin. But it may have been used earlier in Indian Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese medicine. The root is normally dried and aground, and the resultant yellow powder is used throughout the world in many different ways, including:

  • Medicine
  • Cooking – It’s especially used as a spice in Thai and Indian curries.
  • Dying – It gives Buddhist monks its mustard color.
  • Spirituality and magic – The powder is used in purification rituals, and is sometimes sprinkled around an altar for protection.

Turmeric root is most potent and effective when it’s distilled into an essential oil or used when it’s fresh. Turmeric is especially rich in biologically active chemical compounds, including curcumin, turmerones, and polysaccharides, which are much more highly concentrated and easier to assimilate in the essential oil. This oil is extracted from the same source as the powder, the plant’s rhizomes, or roots.

Aromatherapy

In aromatherapy, turmeric essential oil is primarily used as a way to deeply relax the body and mind, and relieve stress and anxiety. Its effects are felt quite strongly in any traditional aromatherapy method: massage, direct or steam inhalation, diffusion, or in baths. Since it is a strong analgesic and anti-inflammatory, it is an ideal oil for relaxing muscles, fighting arthritis and joint pain, relieving headaches, and helping women with difficulties related to menstruation and the reproductive system. Another main use of its aromatherapy is treating disorders of the stomach and digestive system.

Aromatherapy recognizes that turmeric offers many additional benefits to the mind and the nervous system. Experts also say it fights depression and improves cognitive functioning, memory, mental reaction time, and concentration. To more directly deliver its chemical compounds and benefits to the blood and brain, turmeric is often inhaled as steam.

Turmeric’s warm, spicy, woody fragrance make it a popular ingredient in many aromatherapy formulas, and it blends well with cardamon, cinnamon, vanilla, ginger, and ylang ylang.

Healing Properties

Turmeric has long been used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine, which mentions it in its earliest texts. It is said to be a hot herb that increases the pitta dosha. Turmeric is also a key ingredient in many other Eastern healing traditions, including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Thai folk medicine, Muslim Unani medicine, and Indian Siddha system.

One of the primary ways turmeric is used in all of these systems is as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic; it can either be ingested, or made into a paste or oil and directly applied to the afflicted areas. It is recognized as an effective treatment for arthritis, gout, joint pain, muscle pain, tension, and various injuries. Due to its higher concentration, turmeric essential oil is perfect for this usage, especially its ability to relax the mind and create more positive mental states that can enhance the relief of pain and inflammation.

Traditional healing systems also recognize many other healing properties in turmeric. It is an especially powerful and effective antioxidant, and this quality supports virtually all of its other healing properties.

It is used to treat stomach problems, especially digestion. It has strong disinfectant, antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial qualities, and it can reduce both blood sugar and cholesterol.

Recent studies have shown that curcumin (the main ingredient in turmeric) is a strong antioxidant agent, and is significantly more effective than equivalent pharmacological products. Turmeric both exhibits free radical activity and enhances the activity and effectiveness of naturally occurring antioxidants in the body. This antioxidant quality can also support healing after injury, support heart and liver health and healing, and slow down cellular degradation and aging. Clinical studies have also shown that curcumin has the ability to prevent liver damage.

Applications

Turmeric contains polysaccharides, and clinical studies have shown that this ingredient stimulates the immune system. New research shows that turmeric’s disinfectant qualities further boost the immune system. Indeed, the combination of it being a disinfectant, antioxidant, and booster of the immune system make it an invaluable tool for promoting healing after injuries and surgical procedures.

Many different studies have supported the use of turmeric as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent, especially as an essential oil. Curcumin exhibits strong anti-inflammatory qualities and directly reduces pain in nerve endings. Turmeric has been shown to increase the production of mucous in the stomach, which is of great help when dealing with stomach discomfort and treating ulcers.

Turmeric’s strong anti-oxidizing and antiseptic qualities make its essential oil extremely valuable at treating skin conditions, and making both the skin and hair healthier and more attractive. It has been shown to be effective at treating acne and blemishes, stimulating hair follicles, promoting hair growth, treating various scalp conditions, deeply cleaning the hair and skin, and reducing the appearance of aging.

Turmeric has long been used to improve memory, clarify the mind, and increase concentration. Some of the most exciting new research identifies various active ingredients in turmeric and their ability to reduce the degradation of brain cells and stimulate brain cell growth. This research partially explains the positive effect turmeric can have on the brain and cognitive functions, and it also suggests that it could be used to treat Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and the after-effects of strokes.

Conclusion

Too many studies confirm the multitude of turmeric’s additional healing properties to list them all here. There is even a growing body of evidence that turmeric can greatly ease the effects of chemotherapy.

Turmeric has over 300 active chemical compounds, and these compounds consistently have a greater impact than any one ingredient can have on its own.

This oil is easy to use and suitable for various forms of application. It can be orally ingested, topically applied, inhaled directly, applied through diffusion, added to bathwater.
